Winter Wellness

We all deserve to make time to tune into our mental, physical and emotional health. Incorporating some wellness, self care and mindfulness into our daily routines has a great impact to the betterment of our overall state of wellbeing.

Mental health & nurturing my inner needs throughout the year has for me been the main focus to get me feeling back to a happier and healthier me. I've taken a lot of time to heal myself in the way of therapy, using aromatherapy oils, painting, actively moving my body with yoga, recently sound bowl healing and which has helped me through my anxiety and made me feel that I can manage things a lot better.

I've put together a few Winter Wellness tips to share with you all because I know that it isn't always easy to implement these changes into our lifestyles, but the idea is to start off at your own pace, to try things out, establish a routine and get to be mindful of how you are feeling. You only have one mind, one body and one soul.

  • Hydration - Drinking herbal teas, fruit water and /or filtered water throughout the day will help boost concentration, balance mood, great for our regeneration of cells, kidney and liver. Overall joint movement and mobility. Use a good hydrating moisturiser on the face and body even in the Summer to keep your skin hydrated.
  • Aromatherapy - Lavender and Eucalyptus Oils generally promote relaxation, helps to de-stress and sends signals to the brain to help adjust and boost mood. Try our D'Essential Oils range.
  • Sleep - A routine is essential. Try to get at least 8 hours sleep if you can. It's not always possible during times of stress, family life, or illness but sleep hygiene is really important to focus on. If you wake up in the night, you could try thinking of pictures for each alphabet letter until you start to feel sleepy again. Try to switch off or put away your phone before sleep time and don't check your phone screen in the night. Dedicate a period of 'getting ready for bed' time to unwind and slow down the way you want to.
  • Meditation and Gratitude - In the morning then you wake up, pray and show gratitude for all of the things in your life. Start your day with a positive mind, followed by a full body stretch.
  • Active - Joint movement for the body is essential so that your blood circulation keeps on flowing the oxygen needed to keep you well and functioning. Try a fitness class, light exercises at home or go for a walk. Wrap up if you're going out in the cold weather.
  • Spend time with your loved ones family and friends. Check in with each other and take care of one another.
